Aurora acknowledges Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the Traditional Custodians of the land where we live, learn and work. We pay our respects to Elders past and present.

Our Purpose

To transform lives by investing in potential and inspiring excellence through education at the highest level.
We deliver a suite of Interconnected programs that walk with Indigenous students through each stage of their educational development and build their resilience, identity, aspirations and sense of community.

The High School Program is designed to enhance academic achievement for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander high school students, simultaneously paving the way to university. The aim of the program is for all students to complete high school with the foundational academic skills necessary for engagement and success at university and higher education.

The Indigenous Scholarships Portal and Match Service streamlines students’ access to financial support and resources, with over $40million in scholarships available. Our free, monthly e-newsletter provides scholarship updates and profiles stories of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander student success.

The Aurora Internship Program has contributed to capacity building for Indigenous and Indigenous-sector organisations placing over 2,000 talented and passionate interns across Australia. Since 2017, scholarships are offered to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander interns to facilitate their entry into the sector.

Prior to 2010, there had never been an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person studying for a full-time degree at Oxford or Cambridge – consistently ranked as 2 of the top 5 universities in the world.

The Indigenous Scholars International Study Tour (the Study Tour), International Scholarships Program (the Scholarships Program) and Bursaries Program open pathways to international academic excellence. These include the Charlie Perkins Scholarships and the Roberta Sykes Scholarships for postgraduate studies at leading world universities, as well as the Roberta Sykes Bursaries which facilitate participation in executive programs.

Aurora Outreach facilitates Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander university students and graduates to visit high schools to give inspirational talks about unlocking potential and striving to be your best. Outreach shows students how academic and career pathways can open up a world of possibilities.
