Proud to be the principal solicitor of an indigenous law firm
As an aboriginal man with descendants from Narangga country (Yorke Peninsula, South Australia ) but raised on Kaurna land, I completed a double degree at Flinders University – Bachelor of Laws and Legal Practice & Bachelor of Commerce. After graduating from university, I worked within government and several corporate law firms before I started my own legal practice, AMK Law which is 100% Aboriginal owned.
I knew I wanted to be a lawyer from an early age, I was drawn to it because of the influence I believe lawyers yielded, and their ability to prevent others from being pushed around. I liked the idea of taking a stand and defending my views.
AMK Law strongly believes in cultural diversity and inclusion, and connecting with the community in which it lives and works. In the future, I hope to grow the firm as a multicultural firm that comes from a variety of backgrounds. I am regularly involved in workshops, seminars, panels and community radio and am proud to be a role model and mentor for indigenous students.
