I hope to be a role model for other Indigenous Australians
Education for me, was the key to moving forward in my life. I was inspired by Aboriginal relatives of mine who had graduated from university and went on to achieve incredible things.
Seeing doors open for them through higher education was a big part for me, in wanting to study at university.
I am currently studying a Master's degree in performance at the Royal College of Music in London as a Roberta Sykes Foundation scholarship recipient.
As an Indigenous Australian in the performing arts, I feel that university is the bridge between developing my gifts and talents, and progressing to a new level of expertise and refinement in my field.
I also wanted to empower myself to have a broader range of options in my career after university.
I have begun to see the value in obtaining wisdom, knowledge and receiving instruction from experienced people in my field.
Seeing people who have accomplished what I aspire to, has helped me understand what is possible in my life. I hope to be a role model for other Indigenous Australians as my relatives have been for me.
