I want to become a role model for our people
I always wanted to go to university but I didn't finish my HSC and I decided to go straight into the workforce. After working for about four years I decided it was time to undertake further education.
My passion for journalism and media steered me towards a BA in Communications at the University of Technology Sydney.
University study was something I really enjoyed and the assignments I completed helped me improve my written communication skills. I became much more aware of the issues affecting our people.
My ultimate ambition is to be involved in the mainstream media. Aboriginal people are under-represented in the media and I believe that a higher representation of strong Aboriginal people will help with reconciliation.
I want to become a role model for our people as my Mother was for me, a woman with great strength and dignity who raised five kids on her own. I want to change the way Australia thinks about its Indigenous population and to encourage other Indigenous people to aspire to improve their lot through education.
