About International Scholarships
Just over six and a half years ago there had never been an Indigenous Australian studying for a full time degree at Oxford or Cambridge. As of January 2016, 15 Indigenous postgraduates scholars have graduated from one of these leading universities.
There are Scholarships available for Indigenous Australians to study overseas at: Cambridge and Oxford in the United Kingdom and Berkeley, Columbia, Harvard, New York University, Stanford in the United States. Funding is available for either a masters, a PhD program or executive development programs.
These Scholarships are available through either the Charlie Perkins or the Roberta Sykes Trusts.

Roberta Sykes Indigenous Education Foundation
The Roberta Sykes Education Foundation, provides supplementary financial assistance to Indigenous postgraduate students who wish to undertake studies at recognised overseas universities.
The value of the Scholarship is up to $30,000 for the period of one year, paid directly to the recipient in equal instalments at the start of each semester or term, subject to satisfactory academic progress. Applicants may reapply for the Scholarship in subsequent years.
The Charlie Perkins Scholarship Trust
The Charlie Perkins Children's Trust was set up in 2002 to assist Indigenous children in the areas of health and education. In October 2008, the Trust’s purposes were expanded to include the education of students as well as children, and the Trust was renamed the Charlie Perkins Trust for Children & Students.
